Blood Service in Brief July 2016

From the Chief Executive

Welcome to Blood Service in Brief July. This edition we have plenty of news for you, but we’re also taking a short nostalgia trip back to the beginning of the united Australian Red Cross Lifeblood, two decades ago. We’ve come a long way in so many areas, but the continued improvement in the quality of our products and meeting the needs of our customers is one area we’re all proud of.

From old to new, you’ll read about two new technologies we’re introducing to our manufacturing and testing areas to speed up processing, a new study on Hepatitis E prevalence in Australian blood donors, and a unique new challenge for health professionals.

This issue we’re also giving a well-deserved pat on the back to donors through National Blood Donor Week, the Blood Service’s annual celebration of their life-saving generosity.

I hope you enjoy Blood Service in Brief.

Kind regards,

Shelly Park
Chief Executive
