Learn about transfusion adverse events

◄ Back to Transfusion News

Increase your awareness of transfusion adverse events with two case studies that will support you to diagnose, manage and where possible, prevent transfusion adverse events.

In each online case study, you will be presented with a patient who has experienced a transfusion adverse event. You will then be prompted to diagnose the adverse event, select the appropriate management for the patient and learn how adverse events may be prevented in the future.

Case study 1 has been redeveloped, and case study 2 is a brand new activity.

The two case studies have been specifically developed for transfusion medicine scientists and technicians, registrars, nurses, interns and undergraduate medical students.

Each module will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The learning is endorsed by Australian Professional Acknowledgement Continuing Education (APACE) for 1 Continuing Education Unit credit. This topic is equivalent to 30 minutes of professional development.

You will need to sign in to Transfusion Online Learning or create a free account to access the case studies.
