Blood Service in Brief April 2017

◄ Back to Transfusion News

From the Chief Executive

Two of the recent most prominent trends in the Australian blood sector have been the rise in relative usage of O negative red cells and the continuing increase in the demand for plasma.

This edition, you can read about Blood Service research and initiatives around both these areas. These include the results of our customer survey that uncovered how O negative is ordered and used in pathology labs around the country, and a new direction for plasma at the Blood Service.

You can also read about labelling changes coming soon, an award-winning effort from our manufacturing team, and new methods for transporting blood. I hope you enjoy this edition of Blood Service in Brief.

Kind regards,

Shelly Park
Chief Executive
